Bunko
The OC Alumnae Chapter of Delta Zeta has a Bunko group that meets roughly nine times a year on the fourth Thursday of each month. It starts at 7pm and usually ends between 9 and 9:30pm.
What's Bunko, you ask? The brief explanation is a game with dice that includes six rounds, progressing in order from one to six, where the number of the round serves as the target for that rounds' rolls. Within a round, players alternate turns rolling three dice, aiming to obtain the target number. Players gain one point for each die matching teh target. If the player gets three-of-a-kind (a Bunko), they get 21 points. The round stops when a player (or team) at a head table obtains 21 points. Whoever wins the most rounds is the overall winner and usually receives a token prize.
What this doesn't express is the random exuberance of having your dice land in the appropriate configuration! The Bunko group is extremely informal and fluid. We encourage you to attend when you can. The game is just an excuse to gather, snack and chat. Each player puts $5 in the pot and at the end of of the evening, prizes are awarded for various accomplishments -- most Bunkos, most wins, 50/50, most baby Bunkos, etc. Your bank account will not become rich, but your friendships will!
